Adityanath was initiated by Shri Kapilnath in 1986. In 1997, Shri Adityanath moved to Austin, Texas where he has been engaged in bringing the teachings of Shri Gurudev Mahendranath into public awareness, acting as editor of his works, and webmaster of The Scrolls of Mahendranath.

Adityanath is also a student of Tibetan Buddhism and has received a number of empowerments in both the Nyingma and Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism.

He is also a devotee of Sri Hanuman.
